WEARING: Club Monaco Turtleneck, Acne Sweatshirt, H&M Pants, Margiela Cuffs & DIY Clutch.

No black, but nonethless a solid monochromatic & neutral look for winter. Carefully curated to keep it simple and comfortable, you can easily swap the heels for sneakers. This past weekend I had a POP UP,  I want to thank everyone who stopped by to shop, and those who just came out to show support. The life of an independent designer or business isn't glamorous, it is actually hard work and full of sleepless nights worrying, or excited about what you are doing.

I've been talking in the past couple of months about my new collection and the new website, I do hope that after months of building up the hype, when M-A finally does go live, you will like it as much as I do. We're launching later in February, yikes! I will be sure to announce it here, and on intagram as well. Be sure to follow me there too, my handle is @melissa.araujo for live news, insta stories and more.

WEARING: THPSHOP Knit, Coach Sweater, APC Half Moon Bag, Dior Sunglasses & Spanx Faux Leather Leggings.

Whenever I talk about starting afresh, going back to basics, I always end up in black jeans, tees, leather jackets, and sneakers or black boots. Some may find it boring, not me. I’ve come to realize you should always dress for yourself and do whatever makes you feel confident.
Now and then you can mix things up, choose something that will pop against your all black outfit; this is where shades of different colours or textures come in to play. Here I am experimenting with new silhouettes, mixing colours, textures & layering to survive the cold weather. Thanks to this chunky knit by THPShop I can stay warm & stylish at the same time.

WEARING: Zara Sweater, C/MEO Skirt, Aska booties, Quay Australia Sunnies & Prada Saffiano Leather Bag.

I've started 2017 in a positive manner, I used this past week to break some old habits; my goal is to allow growth and to be a better version of myself. Needless to say, this wasn't easy but I am committed to breaking these habits, one at a time. I stand by the mantra "mind over matter", using willpower to do things you may not think you're capable of.

Here is a rare occasion of me braving the cold without a jacket, to show this double dose of femininity & texture. In fashion whether you're you are a maximalist or a minimalist, my tip to you is to build your outfit around one striking element. An accessory, a colour, a cut or material - you can have more than one element but keep in mind that "less is more" and more is actually more.

My striking element here is colour. I wanted to start the year with bright whites, white is the epitome of Summer but it works in Winter too. The entire outfit is feminine which is a divergence from my usual - surprising but nice. My 2017 is all about breaking habits and trying new things. I hope you all had a fantastic first week of the new year!

2016, was a year full of: ups, downs and surprises. I made a roundup of all my favourite outfits this past year and hopefully you like them too. In 2016, I invested only in pieces that are timeless, clean, and still make a statement. I mostly shop from independent designers & boutiques; seriously, I think I did a hell of a good job supporting others like myself.

I know I didn't blog or instagram as much as I normally do, I was working on a new collection that will come out soon! I had to refocus some of my energy, and I will do my best to blog more often, have different & interesting content other than just outfits. Nothing like challenging oneself to be and do better.

I hope you all had a great time during the holiday season and that you are ready for 2017. Wishing you all a Happy New Year and let's keep the energy high throughout the year! xx
