SIMPLICITY

WEARING: American Apparel Jumper, DIY Skirt, Club Monaco Clutch & Sunnies and Joe Fresh Shoes.

Make sure to follow me on instragram-melissaaraujo07 for more updates on my designs and drawings.

"In characters, in manner, in style, in all things, the supreme excellence is simplicity"- Henry W. Longfellow. I truly love this quote and try to live by it. This post will be short and sweet as I am packing to go to LA for a week. I am really excited to stay in West Hollywood again, see some familiar faces, sit by the pool and hopefully meet some new and interesting people. If you are from LA holla, who knows maybe we can have a drink or two. I need to decide what to pack, I know that is a good problem to have.

DARK SIDE

Wearing: Zara Chiffon Jumper, American Apparel Leather Vintage Skirt, Melissa Araujo Crop Top
and Aldo Shoes

I am so lucky to have such kind, talented and creative friends. Here is an example of raw talent and an eye for detail. He goes by Particle Observer and for those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting him or working with him, know that it is a very fitting name. Unassuming, nice and very handsome he could easily be in front of the camera and not the other way around. We worked together last year (if you haven't seen me in a leopard bra sitting by the beach do so here meow). I truly love the results of both shoots that we have collaborated on. This one is sleek yet feminine; dark, but enlightened by his detailing.

Dark Side is a beautiful homage to all things noir. "Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy-but mysterious. But above all black says this: I don't bother you -you don't bother me" Yohji Yamamoto. In my opnion black is also chic, timeless and seasonless.  It fits my personality and how I like to represent myself to others. What you see is what you get, no mixed messages. Enjoy these images, check out Particle Observer here. You will be seeing more projects coming from our collaborative minds soon. Thank you K!

BRICK BY BRICK

WEARING: JNBY Leather Jacket, Mango Jeans, American Apparel Oversized T-shirt, DIOR Heels and Ray Ban Sunnies

A lot of people are afraid or dislike change. I can honestly say I adapt to things pretty well and quickly, this way I don't even have time to be stagnant. I see change as opportunity to grow, to learn and to conquer. Yes, of course it sucks if you are the "King of the World"(or the Hand of the King) and he (or you) gets beheaded. But if you are a normal person like me and not part of my favourite TV series: Game of Thrones that shouldn't worry you.

Some changes are brought about by destiny and are usually unexpected, but sometimes you want/need change, waiting around is not an option. Well, welcome to the club if you are also taking a leap on faith and stirring up your life. I am building my dream and my life brick by brick, to the best of my abilities. Now on to some treats, because what is the point of living if you can't have some sweets and champagne when your heart (or emotional state) desires? My heart always welcomes bubbles, pretty things to look at, and delicious things to taste. I had a hard time keeping my white clothes clean and spill free. I am so clumsy some times. Anyone else?

HEADS WILL ROLL

Wearing: American Apparel Fisherman Sweater (one of my favourites)

My last Barcelona pictures are finally here. So excited to share these with you. I have nothing but love for the time I spent there, for the people I met and the adventures I embarked on; alone or in good company (shout out to Hanna, Benita, Tiago, Naomi and Joe). I miss Spain so much, I wish it would be as simple as getting a ticket and going back (there is a the issue of the maxed out Visa). One day, one day. For now I look back at this and remember the wonderful, inspirational and artistic time I had filled with beautiful architecture, music, photos and of course the Sangria and Cava.

These wonderful shots were taken by Joe, make sure to stop by his site here and if you missed  PART I of the "Vintage love", click here. It was such an amazing experience to work with Joe. I wanted to have more time. but I guess a few collaborations are enough to feel the chemistry and respect for each other's work. I love film, I wish I could work more with it; so raw, so real and no photoshop. What you see is what you get.  This shoot makes me want to listen to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Heads Will Roll" as loud as loud can be, on Repeat over and over and over. Last thing a shout out and thank you to Fashion By He for featuring me as "The HottHe of the Week"; pretty sick. I hope to be there again soon.

EXPOSED ZIPPERS

WEARING: JNBY Jacket, Alexander Wang Top, Nike Bra, H&M Pants, Dior Shoes & Brandy Melville Jewellery

Everyone who is anyone is in NYC for the obvious: Fashion Week. I would love to say that I am there too, but  I am not. Instead, I stay close to my computer or iPhone, waiting for the next feed of the fashion shows. One designer that I will not miss out, every year, and season is: Alexander Wang. He understands me (or at least my style) so well. I love his designs, thye speak to me like no other. Every time it is exactly what I want, through the fashion spectrum; from clothes, to shoes to bags. This SS 13 show was no exception.

I imagine what is must be like to sit in the show and see all of the details up close, right in front of you; with all the music, energy and ambiance. Le *sigh*. Until I get to experience it first hand, I will wear one of my favourite tops, by none other then Alexander Wang. Did you guys watch the show or see the pictures? If not check it out. He is the master of sportswear with a beautiful twist. Right up my alley! I have made a promise to myself not to shop (Gasp!!) until I have saved enough money to buy his Marion Black Bag. That's how badly I love his craftmanship.

SUMMER FADE

WEARING: Brandy Melville Crop Top, Vintage Leather Skirt, F21 Shoes, and RayBan Sunnies.

Summer is coming to an end... I know that most in the blogosphere can't wait for Fall; I on the other hand am dreading the thought of cold breezes instead of hot beach days. I just don't do well in the cold weather (deep breath in - deep breath out). I know soon I will be wearing sweaters, blazers and struggling with my inability to layer properly.

This Summer sure felt short, yet it was fantastic. I spent countless hours trying to soak up as much sun as possible; when inside I spent my time designing, cutting and sewing to the sounds of : Beach House, Florence and the Machine, TRST, Bat for Lashes, Julia Stone, Future Island, and my usual dosage of Radiohead. Nothing like music to make the memories last.
